Odicoat
Odicoat
Odicoat is a water-based gel coating that transforms fabrics into waterproof, washable, and durable coated textiles.Odicoat is a gel product designed for fabric treatment, allowing you to make textiles water-resistant or fully waterproof while maintaining flexibility and durability (Odif). It is machine washable, acid free, and bisphenol free, making it safe for indirect contact with food items like aprons, tablecloths, and placemats. The product can also be used as a fabric adhesive to attach textiles to surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, or ceramics.
How Odicoat Works
Odicoat is applied in thin layers using a card, brush, or similar tool. The number of coats determines the finish:
-
1 coat: Water-repellent, matte finish, fabric is protected.
-
2 coats: Glossy, coated appearance.
-
3 coats: Fully waterproof with a high-gloss, waxed canvas effect.
After each coat, the fabric should dry for 20–60 minutes and then be heat-set with an iron using parchment paper to protect the fabric and iron. The coating fully cures in 24 hours, after which the fabric can be sewn, cut, and used like regular textiles.
